Praise the Lord! RR Indonesia has been birthed. After a series of trips of meetings and presentations RRI Asia Pacific Rep, Commander Jim Guneratnam together with Pastor Joy from Bali Indonesia, obtained approval of the AOG Indonesia to start Royal Rangers in Indonesia.
Things fell in place very quickly. The Indonesians organized a National Committee with Pastor Salmon at helm as the National Director and Joy as the National Commander. Together they rounded up a group of 63 trainees (48 men and 28 ladies) as the first batch of trainee commanders for the RR LTA.

The wheels were set in motion, Pastor Salmon and Pastor Joy, with Commander Jim planned to have the inaugural training for potential Indonesian RR leaders from March 3 – 7, 2009.
6 RR leaders from Malaysia, i.e 3 from Calvary Church, Kuala Lumpur (Jim Guneratnam, Eddy Law and Chin Yoke Yee) and 2 from Grace, Klang (Mike Kuna and William See) and 1 from Grace, Petaling Jaya (Theresa D’Cruz) took up this assignment to be trainers at the RR LTA in Bali, Indonesia.

The training was held at Wisma Nangun Kerti, in Begudul, Indonesia. The group of 63 trainees some of whom were Pastors, some children’s ministry workers were assigned into 7 patrols in which they would work together throughout the LTA.

Commander Jim took the trainees through the Leaders Orientation. Then over the next one and a half days, the trainees were taken through the Rangers Fundamentals. The training conducted in English was simultaneously interpreted into Bahasa Indonesia as some were not fluent in their understanding of English. Commanders Mike and William taught in Bahasa Malaysia, which was quite well understood.
“Starting an Outpost” and “Successful Outpost” modules were also included to provide in-depth understanding on the subject matter to trainees who were keen to start the RR Ministry immediately after their training.

In order for the trainees to experience for themselves the running of an outpost meeting, a model Outpost meeting was conducted. At the end of the training sessions, on the afternoon of the last day, a Q & A session was conducted to give the trainees the opportunity to ask any questions pertaining to starting the Rangers ministry.

During the Question & Answer session, among questions raised were availability of further resources and training, and relating to practical constraints of starting the Rangers ministry. The trainers were able to provide them adequate answers and give them “life examples” and testimonies of their experiences in the RR ministry. Overall, the training was well received and the trainees were enthusiastic to immediately start the RR ministry in their local churches when they returned.
As at date of writing, 5 churches in Jakarta and 3 churches from Bali has started the Rangers program. Praise the Lord!
